REAL QUESTIONS AND REAL ANSWERS

Q:  Is there any way that I can save my house and life savings and still qualify for Medicaid?

A:  Yes and we can show you how!  We have formulated brilliant strategies in order to protect assets and help families learn of all the options they have available to pay long term care costs.

Q:  I am a veteran and served during wartime, but I was not wounded or did not retire from the military.  Is there a benefit the Veterans Administration pays for long term care?

A: Yes there is, you can receive up to $2054 in monthly checks from the VA to help pay for un-reimbursed medical expenses that include long term care costs, call us to find out how!

Q:  Should I take out a reverse mortgage to pay my long term care costs?

A:  That can be a risky way to pay for long term care costs if you have no other assets to pay with.  If you have to be moved from your home into an assisted living facility or skilled nursing home permanently, your home could be put up for sale or auctioned by the mortgage company for the amount of the loan, even if the home is worth more.

Q:  Is it ok to give away my car or some cash to family members when I may need long term care in the next 5 years?

A: You can do with your money what you like but there are penalties for giving valuable things away and needing long term care up to five years later.  This action is a very complicated matter and should be discussed with an attorney first, call us for a free benefits checkup to see if you have inadvertently set a land mine up on your piggy bank.

Q:  What is the program of all-inclusive care for the elderly (PACE)?

A:  The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) is a Medicare/Medicaid managed care system that provides health care and support services to persons 55 years of age and older. The goal of PACE is to assist frail individuals to live in their communities as independently as possible by providing comprehensive services depending on their needs.

Q:  What is Long Term Care Home and Community Based Services waivers (LTC-HCBS Waivers)?

A:  To utilize waiver benefits, clients must be willing to receive services in their homes or communities. A client who receives services through a waiver is also eligible for all Medicaid covered services except nursing facility and long-term hospital care. When a client chooses to receive services under a waiver, the services must be provided by Medicaid providers or by a Medicaid contracting managed care organization. The cost of waiver services cannot be more than the cost of placement in a nursing facility, hospital, or ICF/MR.  Call us to find out how and when to access these benefits.
